Keeping Flowers Fresh with Sea Salt
If you've purchased or been the recipient of fresh cut flowers, it's likely that the bouquet came with a packet of plant nutrients to help the flowers stay nourished and vibrant for a longer period of time.
Did you know that you can create home-made plant nutrients with water and sea salt?
In addition to its anti-bacterial characteristics, the inclusion of salt in the vase water provides nourishment through the flower stem — a straw that encourages the buds to bloom and supports the plant's overall health!
Our sea salt is FULL of mineral properties. The magnesium content, in particular, is especially important to plant life and helps prolong the overall life of the plant.
Helpful tips:
- Cut the stems on an angle to help the stem absorb nutrients
- 1 quart of water: 1 tablespoon of sea salt
- If the water starts to discolor after a few days, pour it out, give the vase a quick clean, and refill with new water and sea salt
