Saltery is a Massachusetts-based specialty salt company focused on producing high-quality hand-crafted sea salt products. Our brand blends coastal heritage, craftsmanship, and thoughtful design to create products that empower people to embrace their inner salt lover in a flavorful, colorful way. Established in 2018, Saltery is fully vertically integrated: we do everything in-house from making the products, labeling, shipping, fulfilling, establishing partnerships, retail placement, in-person event production, e-commerce sales, social media, storytelling + more!

Position Overview
The Summer Business Operations Intern will work directly with Saltery Founder, Lily and gain hands-on experience across all aspects of building and operating a consumer product company. This is a highly dynamic role designed for someone who wants to learn how a small business runs from the inside. The intern will assist across all aspects of the business including but not limited to operations, marketing, logistics, events, customer service and product fulfillment while contributing ideas to help grow the brand.

This role is ideal for someone entrepreneurial, flexible, organized, energetic and excited to learn how a founder-led business operates.

Key Responsibilities

Business Operations

  • Assist with daily operations of the business

  • Support inventory tracking, supply management + organization

  • Help coordinate production runs and packaging preparation

E-Commerce & Fulfillment

  • Assist with order packing and shipping

  • Help manage online store operations and inventory updates

  • Support customer service responses and order inquiries

Marketing & Brand Support

  • Assist with social media content creation and scheduling

  • Help with product photography and brand storytelling initiatives

  • Support email marketing and promotional campaigns

Sales & Partnerships

  • Assist with wholesale outreach and retail partner communication

  • Help prepare materials for events, pop-ups, and markets

  • Greet + educate customers at events and in-store 

  • Represent the brand through marketing and sales efforts

Special Projects

  • Conduct market research on food, gifting, and specialty products

  • Assist with new product development and packaging concepts

  • Support other founder-led projects as needed

What You Will Learn

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Self-motivated and comfortable working in a small team environment

  • Interest in entrepreneurship, food brands, or consumer products

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt quickly

  • Basic familiarity with social media platforms preferred

  • Willingness to assist with both strategic and hands-on tasks

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to assist with packaging and light production work

  • Ability to lift boxes up to approximately 30 lbs

Housing
Housing could be provided for the duration of the internship. To be discussed.
