We have met the most amazing people to co-create salt blends with, and we are  excited to share Joy's Five Spice with you!

Boston-based Joy started her food blog, The Cooking of Joy because she was inspired to document her mom's Taiwanese dishes. You can find her work on Instagram at @joyosity.

Five spice powder is an essential part of Taiwanese cooking and also used in Chinese and Vietnamese dishes. The five spices themselves vary, and for this blend, Joy selected cinnamon, star anise, cloves, ginger, and white pepper to create a harmonious blend of warm and fragrant spices that lean towards a sweeter profile.

Traditional uses include Taiwanese beef noodle soup, braised pork over rice, and popcorn chicken, but you can also use it in applications that call for cinnamon, like cinnamon rolls, to add a subtle Asian flair.  One of Joy's favorite ways to use the blend is to add it to the marinade to make soy-marinated jammy eggs!

Choose Joy's Five Spice in a 2oz jar, in a Gift Set with Saltery's Salt + Pepper (another of Joys' fav Saltery flavors), or save with a Bundle of 3!

Saltery is Great on Chicken!

My latest kitchen toy is a Wolf Griddle. I tend to prepare more fish & chicken dishes than beef, thus I love it when the Saltery comes out with a new product that works well with chicken. It worked well with hand-pulled chicken that I use for tortillas!

Joyosity is amazing!

I've always been a fan of Joy (followed her for years on instagram) and wanted to try her Taiwanese fried porkchops and this salt mix was key. I like how it wasn't too much of a licorice flavour as some five-spice mixes can be. I'm planning to try this with some chicken thighs next. Highly recommend this spice mix.

Joy! Where have you been all my life!

I've always wanted to try cooking with Chinese Five Spice, but this was the PERFECT step to getting me familiar with the flavor profile. It's very aromatic that has a subtle flavor that's easy to try on everything!
